Reality Check: Your Kid Does Not Need to Be Athletic

Reality Check: Your Kid Does Not Need to Be Athletic

One of the biggest misconceptions about martial arts is that you need to be athletic to start (this goes for adults as well).

You do not.

In fact, that is one of the reasons we love working with kids.

Some walk through the door already coordinated and athletic.

Others do not.

Some are naturally fast.

Some are naturally strong.

So have never participated in a structured physical activity before.

That is okay.

The purpose of training is not to only work with kids who are already good at it.

Training is how they get better.

Martial arts develops coordination, balance, agility, strength, control, and conditioning over time.

But there is another benefit.

Kids learn that they do not have to compare their beginning to someone else's middle.

Maybe another child can kick higher.

Maybe someone else is faster.

Maybe another student understands a technique immediately.

That is not a problem.

Your child has their own starting point.

And their job is not to beat everyone else.

It is to become better than they were yesterday.

Some of the most rewarding students to teach are not the naturally athletic ones.

They are the ones who discover that they ARE athletic.

Bringing you the best in martial arts, self-defense, & fitness.
